SEMA was established on 11 June 1990. At that time, the two partners Zdeněk Malypetr and Věroslav Seidl founded a production and business syndicate that at first specialized in the sale of fishing tackle, especially sinkers. After conducting a survey on what was, at that time, very weak market, they started selling other companies’ goods.
- From 1991 – 1992, the company was selling the products of the German company D.A.M. From 1992 – 1994, it was the SILSTAR brand. However, SEMA already strong by that time, had to stop selling SILSTAR due to unsatisfactory business practice.
- In 1993, SEMA was transformed into a limited liability company with basic capital of CZK 5,000,000.
- In 1994, SEMA became the exclusive representative of a young progressive German company, SNAP, which was later bought by Brunswick, an American concern, owner of the Zebco, Quantum, Browning and Motorguide brands. SEMA became the distributor of these renowned companies’ products.
- In 1996, SEMA became the exclusive distributor of Daiwa, a Japanese company, in the Czech Republic.
